The school calendar year is made of 36 weeks and of this an additional of 40 periods per week as been made in the submission review proposal to the ministry of education.
In this proposed curriculum review, the time students spend in class is reduces. Students will spend a period of the day (half of the day) in project work and co-curricular activities.
This indicates according to the proposed framework that, the school day opening for S6 will start at 8:00am and end at 2:55pm; and at 3:00pm co-curricular activities will begin and end at 4:30pm.
In the review still, if a candidate fails to give good performance in one subject but excels well in the other instead of repeating both subjects; the candidate will only be required to retake the failed subject.
Note; the current system has been requiring students to retake all the failed subjects.
According to the director of NCDC, Grace Baguma, says they are still constructing consultations and later sent to the Minister of Education and First Lady Janet Museveni for approval.
